Overview :
  • Who is this course for?
This course is designed for CPAs, accountants, and other professionals needing Continuing Professional Education (CPE), especially those who use Microsoft Excel 2021 or Microsoft 365 and want to improve their spreadsheet and data analysis skills using dynamic array formulas.
  • What is this course about or what problem does this course solve?
This course explains how Excel dynamic arrays work and demonstrates how functions such as SORT(), SORTBY(), FILTER(), UNIQUE(), STOCKHISTORY(), SEQUENCE(), and RANDARRAY() can simplify spreadsheet tasks by automatically returning and spilling multiple values into adjacent cells, eliminating the need for older array formula methods, helper columns, and manual copying.
  • Where can the knowledge from this course be used?
The knowledge from this course can be used in accounting, financial reporting, business analysis, data organization, and other spreadsheet-driven workplace tasks where Excel is used to sort, filter, analyze, and manage data efficiently.
  • Why is this course important to a CPA or Accountant?
This course is important to CPAs and accountants because it helps them work more efficiently in Excel by using modern dynamic array functions to automate calculations, organize data, and improve productivity in spreadsheet-based workflows.
  • When is this course relevant or timely?
This course is especially relevant for professionals using modern versions of Excel, including Excel 2021 and Microsoft 365, as dynamic arrays are a major enhancement in newer Excel releases and are increasingly used in current spreadsheet applications.
  • How is a course like this consumed or used?
This self-study text course is completed by reading the eBook, working through the accompanying workbook and exercises, reviewing the included material, and passing the final exam with a score of at least 70% to earn CPE credit.
Description :

The course introduces dynamic arrays. Excel dynamic arrays are one of the most significant improvements introduced in modern versions of Microsoft Excel. They fundamentally change how formulas work by allowing a single formula to return multiple values that automatically “spill” into adjacent cells. This replaces many older techniques involving array formulas, helper columns, and manual copying.

No more typing and then pressing CSE. Now, when you write a formula in a cell and press Enter, the resulting value appears in that cell as well as neighboring cells. This filling in of neighboring cells is called spilling and the resulting answers are considered an array. Dynamic arrays are volatile as they update automatically when the source data is changed. Dynamic functions covered in this course include: SORT(), SORTBY(), FILTER(), UNIQUE() and STOCKHISTORY().

This eBook has an accompanying workbook that you can work through along with an answer sheet.
