With the introduction of Windows XP, and especially service pack 2 (SP2) for XP, there is a lot more scrutiny of what a browser will accept.  If your PC is less than 5 years old and you are using Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, or some other standard browser your basic hardware and software should be fine.  If you are having problems getting a course or exam to load or start, if you keep getting logged off each time you try to start a course or exam, or if the links on the site are just not working the way you expect them to please check the following areas.  Or if you prefer please feel free to Email Us or call us at (888)CPE-0CPE which is (888)273-0273.

First make sure your firewall software will accept content from www.cpethink.com.  To check it close your firewall software and try the operation again.  If the course or exam will start or the page will load then set your firewall software to accept or trust content from www.cpethink.com.

Second make sure your popup blockers are not stopping popup pages or content from www.cpethink.com.  The online web based course may be considered a popup by popular and effective popup blocker software. To check it disable your popup blocker software and try the operation again.  If the course or exam will start or the page will load then set your popup blocker software to accept or trust content from www.cpethink.com.

Third check that your Privacy (Internet Explorer) Pop-up Blocker settings are set to accept or trust content from www.cpethink.com.  You get to the Privacy Pop-up Blocker settings in Internet Explorer by the following navigation; Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Settings... button.  If www.cpethink.com is not in the Allowed sites window type it into the Address of Web site to allow text entry box and click the Add button.  Save your changes and close all your browsers and try to load the course or exam again.

Fourth check that your Privacy (Internet Explorer) Sites settings are set to Always Allow content from www.cpethink.com.  You get to the Privacy Sites settings in Internet Explorer by the following navigation; Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Sites... button.  If cpethink.com is not in the Managed Web sites window type it into the Address of Web site text entry box and click the Allow button.  Save your changes and close all your browsers and try to load the course or exam again.

Fifth check that your Privacy (Internet Explorer) settings are set to accept cookies by overriding automatic cooking handling in the Advanced Privacy Settings.  You get to the Advanced Privacy Settings in Internet Explorer by the following navigation; Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Advanced... button.  Check Override automatic cooking handling, Accept First-party Cookies, Check Always allow session cookies, and Prompt Third-party Cookies.  Save your changes and close all your browsers and try to load the course or exam again.

Sixth check that your Trusted sites (Internet Explorer) settings are set to accept or trust content from www.cpethink.com.  You get to the Trusted sites settings in Internet Explorer by the following navigation; Tools > Internet Options > Security > Click on the Trusted sites icon > click on the Sites... button.  If www.cpethink.com is not in the Web sites window type it into Add this Web site to the zone box and click the Add button.  Close all your browsers and try to load the course or exam again.

Seventh make sure the ActiveX options for signed or safe ActiveX controls are set to Prompt or Enable. You get to the ActiveX options in Internet Explorer by the following navigation; Tools > Internet Options > Security Tab > Custom Level... button. Change the following ActiveX options to Prompt or Enabled, if you are concerned about security set them to Prompt.

Binary and script behaviors = Prompt or Enable
Download signed ActiveX controls = Prompt
Run ActiveX controls as plug-ins = Prompt or Enable
Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting = Prompt or Enable

Lastly we want your PC to be as safe as it possibly can be.  We strongly recommend everyone use firewall, popup blocker, spyware, adware, virus scanning, and any other software that will protect one's system. It is a risky Internet out there, be safe.
