Course Instructions

Step 1 - Register:

To be able to purchase courses and other products you must first create an “account” on the site by clicking the  button on the top of the left navigation bar and by filling in the fields as indicated (help is available on each registration page).  We will not sell or give your information to anyone, for any reason, except where required by legal process or board of accountancy.  For more please see our Privacy Policy.  After your registration is complete you are ready to purchase courses or a subscription.

Step 2 - Purchase a Course or Subscription:

After you have completed your registration or or logged in (by clicking the button on the top left navigation bar) you purchase a course by first reviewing the available courses from a list of courses either by Number of Hours or by Fields of Study.  To get to a list of courses click on one of the Course links in the left navigation bar (Courses by Number of Hours or Courses by Field Of Study). 

Once you have found the course or courses you would like click the icon on the course and it will be added to your shopping cart.  You may add more courses to your shopping cart, modify or delete courses on your shopping cart, and pay at your convenience.  To purchase a subscription click on the Subscription Items link in the left navigation bar then follow the same procedure for purchasing a course and the subscription will be added to your shopping cart.  Cpethink.com uses Wells Fargo Merchant Services and the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway for your payments to assure you of secure and professional credit card transaction handling.  We do NOT store your credit card number on our site for your safety and security.

When you are ready to check out if you are not on your shopping cart page click the icon on the navigation bar at the top of any page and your shopping cart page will be displayed.  To remove a course or subscription from your shopping cart click the Remove link next to the course or item you wish to remove, you can always add it back if you change your mind or need to use a discount coupon.  When you are ready to check out click the Secure Checkout button below the items in your shopping cart and you will be taken to our Secure Payment Gateway to enter your billing information and credit card information.  The billing address values you entered when you registered will appear on this page, the zip code on this page must match the billing zip code for the credit card you enter or the payment will be rejected.  All information entered on the Secure Payment Gateway page is encrypted all the way to the credit card processor, Authorize.net and then to Wells Fargo Merchant Services.

After you click the Submit Transaction button the checkout page will be displayed where you can go directly to your courses or print your receipt.

Step 3 - Start the Course:

 

Click the My Cpethink link on the top of the left navigation bar.  The My Courses page will be displayed where you can click the "Take Course" link for any course you have purchased (or selected if you purchased a subscription).

After clicking the "Take Course" link for the course you wish to take the start course page will be displayed with 6 options:

1) Start Online Course – In this window: Starts the course in an interactive self-study format in the browser window you are currently in.  This is helpful if your popup blocker or firewall software will not let a new browser window be stated from and existing browser window.


2) Start Online Course – In a NEW window: Starts the course in an interactive self-study format in a new browser window.  This is helpful if you would like to keep the browser window the Cpethink site is running in open and take the course in a different window. Cpethink suggests this format for the greatest flexibility and ease of use.

3) Start PDF Course – In this window: Starts the course in a PDF format in the browser window you are currently in.  This is helpful if your popup blocker or firewall software will not let a new browser window be stated from and existing browser window.

4) Start PDF Course – In a NEW window: Starts the course in a PDF format in a new browser window.  This is helpful if you would like to keep the browser window the Cpethink site is running in open and take the course in a different window.


5) Email PDF Course to your login Email address: Emails the course as a PDF attachment to the Email address you used as your user Id when you registered.


6) Download PDF Course to your PC: Right click on this like and follow the prompts to download the course in a PDF format to the location of your choosing.  Remember where you download the PDF file to start the course.

PDF is an industry standard document format, if you do not have a PDF reader click on one of the icons below for the latest version at no charge.

Step 4 - Take the Course:

A course may be started, stopped, and re-started as often as desired.  When you exit a course either by using the course menu, closing the window the course is displayed in, or if you loose your Internet connection, you will be returned to the last page of the course you were viewing when you restart the course.  Our courses have several other helpful features and options, some of which under the course menu at the top of the course window are briefly described below:

Options:

Find - Opens a window to scan the entire text of the course for a word or phrase.

Recent - Lists pages accessed in the course in the order they were accessed with links to return to the pages.

Go Back - Returns you to the previous page accessed.

Continue Quiz - If you jump back to the course from a review questions this link will take you back to the review question.

Reset Quiz Questions - Answers for review questions are kept and presented in the Course History window which is accessed from the My Courses page.  This menu options resets all review questions to unanswered to allow you to retake the the review questions if desired.

Add Bookmark - Adds a bookmark to a page to allow you to return to that page at any time you are taking the course.

View Bookmarks - Lists all user added bookmarks as links that allow you to return to the page bookmarked.

Save Bookmark And Exit - Exits the course.  An exit bookmark is placed as each page is accessed so that regardless of how the course is exited you will always return to the last page viewed.

The course will be accessible for at least 2 years after it is purchased for you to use as reference material but most likely 5 years (depends on storage space and timeliness of the material).  The results of your final exams will be stored for a minimum of 5 years or longer if your state board requires it.

Step 5 - Take the Final Exam:

Click the My Cpethink link on the top of the left navigation bar.  The My Courses page will be displayed where you can click the "Take Exam" link for any course you have purchased (or selected if you purchased a subscription).

After clicking the "Take Exam" link for the course you wish to take the start exam page will be displayed with 2 options:

1) Start the Online Final Exam – In this window: Starts the final exam in the browser window you are currently in.  This is helpful if your popup blocker or firewall software will not let a new browser window be stated from and existing browser window.


2) Start the Online Final Exam – In a NEW window: Starts the final exam in a new browser window.  This is helpful if you would like to keep the browser window the Cpethink site is running in open and take the final exam in a different window. Cpethink suggests this format for the greatest flexibility and ease of use.

You may take the final exam for a course as many times as you wish until a passing grade is scored.  Final exam questions are randomized and will not be presented in the same order more than one time.  A final exam may be started, stopped, and re-started from where left off as often as desired until the exam has been graded. 

After all final exam questions have been answered all questions and answers will be presented on a review page to allow review and modification before grading.  Those questions whose Review Question checkbox was checked will be marked with a red dot to allow for easy location on the review page.  NOTE: The Review Question checkboxes that have been checked MUST be unchecked or you will not be able to continue past the review questions page, until the Review Question checkboxes are unchecked the review questions page think you still want to review the questions checked.  After the exam is completed evaluation questions will be presented, the questions may be answered or skipped at the exam takers discretion. 

The exam is graded instantly the score presented with a single click.  Participants must complete the final examination within one year of purchase and with a minimum passing grade of 70% or better to receive CPE credit unless otherwise noted on the Course History or Course Details page (i.e. California Ethics must score 90% or better).  If the exam is passed a "Print Certificate" link will appear on the "My Courses" page in place of the "Take Test" link to allow printing of the certificate which takes only seconds after requested.  All exam attempts (questions and answers) are stored and will be accessible for at least 5 years for future reference (most likely longer depending on storage space).

Pilot-Review Course Instructions

Piloting or Reviewing a course on Cpethink.com is easy and not much different from purchasing and taking a course except that it is FREE and the number of credit hours is displayed as a range on the Pilot and Review page. The number of credit hours will display as zero (0) on other pages until the pilot for a course has been completed at which time the number of credit hours will change to the number determined by the pilot.  After a course is reviewed and piloted it will be moved into what is called "Production" status which simply means that the course has been developed, reviewed, piloted, and is ready to be sold on Cpethink.com.  If you have piloted or reviewed a course you will be awarded the number of credit hours assigned to that course by the pilot process.

Step 2 - Select a Course:

After you have completed your registration or or logged in (by clicking the button on the top left navigation bar) you pilot a course by first reviewing the available courses to pilot from a list of courses available for piloting. 

1) Click Pilot-Review Courses link about midway in the left navigation bar to get a list of courses to Pilot and Review.

 

2) Select a course with a status of Pilot (green) or Review (red) and follow the steps to place the course in your shopping cart, the course will have price of $0.00.

 

3)  Click the "Secure Checkout " button which will take you to the check out page as if you had paid for the course.

 

4)  Click the "Click Here" link to take you to your My Courses page where you will see the course you just selected at the top of your purchased or selected courses list with a status of Pilot (green) or Review (red), zero (0) as the number of CPE Credits, and zero ($0.00) as the Price. 

When this course is fully reviewed and piloted the status will disappear, the number of CPE credits will change to the actual number of credits to be awarded, and the Price will change to the retail price that others will be charged for the course (you will not be charged).

Step 3 - Take (Pilot or Review) the Course and Exam:

Please refer to steps 3 through 5 in the Course Instructions section above for taking a course and exam on Cpethink.com.  While taking the course and final exam please record the number of hours (60 minutes per hour) or minutes you spend on taking the course, the final exam, and any time related to taking the course or final exam (researching, reviewing, etc.). 

You will be presented with evaluation questions after you complete the final exam, one of which will ask how many 60 minute hours it took to complete the course material and final exam, please rounded to the nearest half hour.  You will also be asked to rank yourself on your experience in the subject matter of the course, state your independence of the group that developed the course, and that Cpethink.com did not notify you in advance of the proposed completion time.  Please answer all evaluation questions or the pilot will not be valid. 

We will also need a recent copy of your resume or short biography in the event we are audited by NASBA or a board of accountancy for verification of our recommended credit hours for a course.  We will use your information (resume or bio) for this purpose only and no other.

Group Options

To create a group click the  button on the top of the left navigation bar and by filling in the fields as indicated, making sure to select Group from the Select Account Type list box (help is available on each registration page).  We offer discounts for groups of just about any size, from small to medium to large.  Our group options are as flexible as you need them to be in most instances.  We will not sell or give your information to anyone, for any reason, except where required by legal process or board of accountancy.  For more please see our Privacy Policy.  After your registration is complete you are ready to purchase courses or a subscriptions for the members of your groups.

Please note that the group administrator is not a user that is able to take courses.  If the group administrator is someone who needs to be able to take courses they will have to register twice, once as the group administrator and once as a group member.

Some of the features or our groups are:

The group administrator and group members will have the group title displayed on their pages when signed on to Cpethink.com.

The group administrator can run reports on group members to check on the courses and progress of group members.

The group administrator can create and disable group members.

The group administrator can allow users add themselves to the group.

The group administrator can restrict the number of members that can be added to the group.

The group administrator can purchase courses and subscriptions at a substantial discount to be agreed upon.

If we do not have a report the group administrator needs and we judge it to be of use to other groups we will develop it at no cost.
